For many years now most people who have purchased a greenhouse will have one, which is made from aluminium and glass. Yet more and more people are choosing to purchase polycarbonate greenhouses in place of these more traditional types of ones. Certainly, there are a number of advantages to be gained from having a polycarbonate one rather than one that has glass in it and below we look at what some of these are.

1. Greenhouses that use polycarbonate are far better insulated than those that use glass and are better able to keep the temperature inside at a more constant level. Because of this a person finds that the atmosphere is better and more conducive to them growing good quality healthy plants.

2. Where with more traditional greenhouses that use glass and which can easily break those greenhouses using polycarbonate are very strong and the chances of the sheets breaking is minimal. The polycarbonate material is of such a strength that it can actually resist being damaged by either a branch falling on to it or a ball being thrown at it.

3. All the sheets that are used to for installation in greenhouses are very light in comparison to glass and will be cut and supplied in the exact measurements that you want. So if you want to replace the glass in your greenhouse for polycarbonate instead it is a job, which you can quickly and easily do.

4. The sheets that are made from this material all have ribbed channels along them and this will further helps to diffuse and break up the suns rays as they try to enter the greenhouse. So the need for including additional shading in order to protect the plants inside is greatly reduced.

5. Along with the ribbed effect on each sheet they also have U-Channels and these will protect the sheets from insects and dirt also. Also these channels are essential as they help to remove the build up of condensation within side the greenhouse quickly and make sure that it drains away properly.

6. The other benefit to be gained from having a polycarbonate greenhouse rather than one which is made using glass is because of its insulation properties you are able to extend the amount of time you grow plants for. Also the insulating properties of this material help to ensure that if you heat your greenhouse at any time loss of heat from inside is reduced as well.

As you can see from above there are many reasons why polycarbonate greenhouses are becoming increasingly popular over those that are made using glass. Certainly if you live in a place where the climate is cool then having a well-insulated greenhouse is important if you want to grow the best plants possible.
